Horwath Hussain Chaudhury & Co was established in 1947 in Lahore, the year of Pakistan's independence by Mr. M Hussain Chaudhury. In a very short span of time, the Firm set-up a national presence with offices in Karachi and Rawalpindi, the two other major cities of Pakistan. In 1950  Mr. Hussain  established the first accounting training centre in Pakistan  "Hussain Institute of Accountancy" which was recognized by then Government to oversea and regulates the training needs of Chartered Accountants in Pakistan. Subsequently, in 1961 Mr. M Hussain played a pivotal role in the establishment of the existing institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). In recognition of his services to the accounting profession Mr. M. Hussain Chaudhury was honored as being recorded as the first member in the register of members maintained by ICAP since 1961.

In 1997, in view of the increasing globalization of businesses and in response to the growing demands of local businesses, the firm entered into an affiliation with Horwath International that is one of the world's largest network of independent accounting firms with 400 offices in  over 100 countries. The firm in 2004 became a full member of Horwath International and incorporated the Horwath name in its name.  

In 2000, the Firm launched its IT consulting arm through becoming a value added reseller of ACCPAC International's (subsidiary of Sage PIc) financial accounting and business management software. Peresoft Cash Book and MISys manufacturing software. Within a span of few years, it had become one of the leading ERP implementation consulting firm.

In 2001 the Firm set-up a fully functional back office using state of the art technology to undertake outsourcing functions relating to accounting, payroll and finance for businesses based locally and offshore. Our back office can provide both online as well as offline services using the latest accounting softwares.

The Firm has 6 partners/directors and an overall staff strength of over 100 with the head office in Lahore and branch offices in Karachi and Rawalpindi giving the Firm a national coverage.

The Firm is only one of the few Pakistani firms to be registered with public Company Accounting Oversight Board, USA (PCAOB) that regulates audit firms providing services to quoted US companies around the world.
